skull-crossbonesKilling the DAQ

This page explains the ways in which you can kill the DAQ.

Killing the DAQ for the shifter

As the shifter can't kill the DAQ (they can only stop the runs), if this needs doing, you'll need to do it. I'm using Amy's slides as a reference for this section.

First, shell into the gateway in whatever way you like:

 ssh sbnd@sbnd-gateway03.fnal.gov

For the following steps, you need to be in the shifter area, so shell into daq01 like so:

 ssh sbnd-daq01
circle-exclamation

Setting up the DAQ shifter area

Before you stop or kill the DAQ, you need to run the following setup script:

source daqexpShifterSetup.sh

This is a script that Amy made, which automatically directs you to the current shifter area.

Stopping the DAQ in the shifter area

To stop the DAQ for the shifter, run the following command:

./stop

Trying to stop the DAQ before outright killing it is usually kinder, and gives us a reference point for when it stopped.

Killing the DAQ in the shifter area

To kill the DAQ for the shifter, run the following command:

The number 1 indicates the partition that the shifter DAQ is running on. If you don't specify a number, it will kill all of the DAQ (which is not ideal). If you need to kill a different partition (for example, if you're doing an expert run on a different partition), use the number of the partition you're working on.
