Using the Shifter GUI and Grafana

This page describes all you need to know about using and working with the DAQ GUI and Grafana.

Using the shifter GUI

Setting up in the Command Line

First, you need to run the following command in your Command Line/Terminal (this sets up the port forwarding I think):

ssh -KL 8443:sbnd-daq01.fnal.gov:443 [e-mail]

Important: You need to keep this open at all times when viewing the GUI! If you don't want it to close accidentally, or if you plan on having it open for a long time, consider running this command in a screen session.

Opening the GUI in a web browser

Next, to view the GUI you need to copy and paste this link into your web browser (it's also shown below).

https://localhost:8443

Now you'll be able to see the shifter GUI!

Using Grafana

Detailed information about how to use Grafana can be found here.

Setting up in the Command Line

First, you need to run the following command in your Command Line/Terminal (this sets up the port forwarding I think):

ssh -CKL localhost:10089:localhost:10080 [e-mail] 'ssh -CKL localhost:10080:localhost:10080 [e-mail]'

Important: You need to keep this open at all times when viewing Grafana!

Opening Grafana in a web browser

Next, to view Grafana, you need to copy and paste this link into your web browser (it's also shown below).

http://localhost:10089

Now you'll be able to see Grafana once you've logged in!

If this is your first time logging into Grafana, ask one of the other DAQ experts for the username and password.

Tip: You may need to reload the page if it's not loading properly.
